Happy Easter! Today, we remember that Jesus rose from the dead and is the resurrection and the life for every person He indwells 😊 A well known hymn about Christ’s resurrection is “Christ Arose” by Robert Lowry. This is one of the hymns I wrote a poem based on and which will appear in my upcoming book, Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs.
Christ Arose
A spark, a live ember, glides to the plateau
and unsheathes scimitar flames,
which saber dance across dead wood
and stab night’s pupil with leaping thrusts.
Pine branches become sparklers
whose needles fall in a crackling rain
as flames flash flood through the sage.
Along the ridged brow of a valley,
trees solar flare into fiery points—
the sun’s corona rising from the earth—
while boulders of smoke roil and roll away.
