April Come She Will

Song lyrics combine two of my favorite things: poetry and music. Lately, I’ve been listening to a lot of Simon and Garfunkel—gorgeous music with words full of poetry, philosophy, and reflection.

I play guitar so I’ve been challenging myself to learn several songs by Simon and Garfunkel. Anyone who’s listened to Simon and Garfunkel knows this is NOT EASY! The one I’m working on now is “April Come She Will.” The guitar skips easily along while the duo sings about the the months progressing from April to September. The seasonal details of each month become a metaphor for the life of a romance. (Find the lyrics here).

I hope you’ll take a moment to listen to this song. It’s less than two minutes long, but its simple beauty far overflows its brevity.
